Teknetics T2

Teknetics T2

This versatile, multi-purpose metal detector will help you find treasures that have been both lost and missed by the generations before you. The Teknetics T2 is very affordable and ready to use as soon as you take it out of the box! The Teknetics brand is in a class all by itself, known for versatility and high-performance packaged in a lightweight detector.

The model we’re featuring comes standard with an 11” open-frame, Biaxial waterproof searchcoil. Both larger and smaller coils are available in the accessories area for this metal detector, but the 11” is a great place to start. This searchcoil is versatile and deep-seeking, making it effective for any type of detecting. Because it is waterproof, you can submerge this coil into water without any adverse affect on the operation of the detector – this is perfect for hunting in the shallow waters of beaches and rivers as well as on land!

Because this detector is lightweight and well balanced, it is incredibly easy for first-time treasure hunters to get accustomed to. It has three easy-to-use functions that are shown on the digital screen, including target I.D. (coins, rings, etc.). It also features a distinct audible “Tone I.D.” to help you hear your finds.

After a little practice you’ll be able to hear the difference in your various finds! Best of all – you won’t have to dig for anything you don’t want! Because the Teknetics T2 has a ¼” headphone jack on the control panel, almost any stereo-type headphone-set can be used with the Teknetics T2.

Thirty years ago, coins were being found right under the sod level. As medal detecting became more and more popular, the coins close to the surface naturally started disappearing. Today, with a lot of the easy coins already found a detector needs to be able to find coins a foot deep or deeper. I personally have found coins and jewelry as deep as fifteen inches. A detector today will tell you what you found how deep it is and pin-point it for you taking out a lot of the guess work.
Aluminum pull tabs from pop and beer cans plagued our city parks and schoolyards. Anyone that has used a detector has dug up more pull tabs than anything else. Pull tabs can be eliminated today but if you eliminate them you also are going to eliminate some coins so I dig everything! Always trying to improve there product manufacturers try to bring out at least one new model a year. I have spent a lot of money trying to keep up with the latest improvements. One diamond ring I found four years ago has more than paid for my hobby plus it's a lot of fun. I was hunting a large church yard in Ohio a few years ago and I found a heavy gold cross worth about two hundred dollars. While visiting my son in North Carolina, I always look for Civil War relics. I haven't found any rare relics yet but there's always next year.

I have used many detectors in the 30 yrs I have been in the hobby. And I have found over 100,000 coins not to mention the hundreds of rings, tokens, baggage checks, watch fobs, etc,

I now have used the Teknetics T2 for two years now, and can with out a doubt say that it is the best detector I have ever owned. I love the lightness, the tones, and the depth it gets. And, it’s hot on coins. Dimes are my favored coin to find. I hunt two or three times a week. I’m also 69 years old and counting. I hope that everyone else who does this hobby is having as much fun as I’ am! If any one out there has never tried the T2 then you are missing out. I say this with conviction.

I liked the service that Teknetics gave me when I had to send it in for miner check up. It was swift and they sent me a letter to let me know what they did to my T2.

I got my Teknetics T2 a few months ago. I just turn one knob and start hunting. It gets great depth and is easy to understand. I hunt in town mostly for coins and rings, and I was having trouble with the large coil in trash areas. Kellyco now sells a 5.5" coil that will make it much easier to pick up nickels and rings. I just set discrimination at 55 and power at 90. I also set tones at 3.6. This helps you tell the difference between nickels and pull tabs. I love the big coil in areas with not so much trash. I think the 5.5" coil will help each Teknetics T2 owner find much more. I am a retired marine and have been using detectors since 1960. I'm also 74 years old and still going strong. Try the 5.5 coil, you will find twice as much. Good hunting.

The Teknetics T2 detector is very well made, and works good. It is almost too sensitive, and some what hard to figure out as a newbie.

I have had some trouble with it telling me that it is a quarter, but in fact it was just some tin roofing material. The machine is very light weight and easy to swing all day long. It has an adjustable audio tone control witch is very nice. Volume control works well. It has a port for head phones. You get about 40 hours on two double a batteries. I will figure it out given enough time.

I was first introduced to metal detecting many years ago by a good friend, he was patient and understanding of my all too many questions, "whats this for, how does it work, what does that dial do." After watching him for a very long time I started my search for the ideal machine. I ended up purchasing my Teknetics T2 used from a local dealer who like my friend was patient with all my questions.

Once home I headed to the side yard and anxiously fired up the machine to find what treasures my be in my yard. This 60 year old country home which had never been searched so imagine my excitement as I put on my headphones and made my first scans.

It had not been long when my first signal hit, anxiously I carefully dug to find a penny, 1960's era. Cleaning up after myself I tried again and within a few steeps yet another strong signal, this time a Little more calmly I was to discover yet another 1960 era penny. As the day went on and every signal turned out to be a penny of the same time frame.

Every signal carefully dug, and hole filled in, every signal investigated to be sure of what it was, and every keeper turned out to be a 60's era penny... all fifty of them! This machine is great under many hunting conditions the kids play ground, beach, and under the cloths line (no Penny's there but lots of small toys) and has served me well, for a long time.

I purchased the Teknetics T2 about a month ago and found it very easy to use. Basically, it’s a turn on and go detector. What I like about it is the balance and light weight. I can hunt for several hours and not get tired of swinging the unit. I got the unit for two main reasons. One is to coin shoot which this unit does exceptionally well and secondly to prospect with. I haven’t had the opportunity to nugget hunt yet but hopefully in the near future. I would recommend this unit for anyone and everyone. It is really easy to use, set up and/or make changes due to soil conditions. Most of my finds so far have been clad coins in the tot lots and parks.

I bought the Teknetics T2 after many hours on the net looking at various makes, models, and prices. A friend suggested I buy the T2 and I came across several websites blowing it's horn. Then I looked at 2nd hand T2 machines thinking if they are good there won’t be any for sale and I was right I could not find a single one. So I dipped in my reserves and bought one. After several outings, I am convinced I bought the best machine money can buy. With the right settings, the T2 should be illegal! They are Sensitivity 70 Discrimination 5 and tone 2+ With this setting, you will find more goodies than most other detectors and you can use it everywhere including stubble pastures and leveled ground (Not for beach use). You will be able to hold your own everywhere just listen for the sounds. A high pitch sound is a good target a low grunt is iron. If you hear a high pitched sound and a grunt almost at the same time, remember the T2 reset time is a part of a second. When in doubt DIG. The T2 won’t lie to you. I dug many of the “dodgy” signals and found winners and, yes, some large pieces of iron because the electric conductivity is higher. But when the signal bounces, meaning move between high and low signals never giving the same reading on the meter, then it is iron or rubbish dig a few to convince yourself. Trust the T2’s signals and listen carefully. Bury a few different metals like silver copper and a gold ring and swing over it several times a day! Leave them buried so the ground can settle pour water over it. It helps to settle the ground. Then before you go out swing the T2 over your targets and listen and remember the sounds! Then you are ready to go and find the goodies! Buy one and you will not be sorry! Oh yeah, I do not work for Teknetics. I do not know anyone that does and I am the most horrible customer anyone can have. I just love to complain! It’s deep it’s very fast and it will make you look good! The T2 is the best machine out there for all terrains and will give you hours of fun.

A good friend of mine let me use his T2 for a while. After I used it, I had to buy one. I was lucky to get one off Ebay fitted with a SEF 12x10 coil. I am from the UK and my find rate for Roman coins has gone way up on a site that has been thrashed by other machines. My usual settings Sens 75 Disc20 sounds 2+ Freq.7 found some of the late Roman coins that have been tiny just 5 mm diameter. It is good in iron infested areas too. With 2+ you can move through without too much rechecking. On grass sites, I tend to go a little higher on the sens say 80. It is a great machine and I would not use anything else now, except perhaps a Ltd Edition one!

Great value, I purchased the Teknetics T2 Special Edition, I had printed off the instruction manual prior as I waited for the detector to arrive, so I was familiar with the features and basic operation. Once it was delivered I found it simple to assemble and got started hunting in my yard. Within 20 minutes of searching I got a ZIP ZIP and a 90+ reading, pinpointed the object using the trigger system on the T2 and began digging, about 6 to 7 inched down I unearthed a 1945 Silver Half Dollar Walking Liberty!!. I am hooked and recommend this detector, even for a Newbie.

We recommend the following accessories for this product:

T2 Coil Cover

T2 Carry Bag

T2 Pinpointer
