I have owned two Garrett detectors and both have performed extremely well. I would very much like to own a White detector for several reasons. One reason is that I sold my Garrett 1500 so that I could buy the 2500.

I love the simplicity of use and especially love the metal identification feature. It would be great to own a White detector so I would always have a backup in case either unit had to be serviced. Also, I have spoken with several other's who own at least one White and they all were happy with their detectors.

I certainly would enjoy owning a White detector and expanding my knowledge of treasure hunting using different technologies. In the several years I have been hunting, I have found hundreds of dollars in coins, several civil war buttons and bullets. I also had the good fortune of find a live civil war cannonball in mint condition. I found lots of jewelry (gold and silver rings, bracelets, earrings, etc.)

Also, since I am a woman, and I don't think there are too many of us, at least in my area, it would be good publicity for White.

I've been metal detecting since the spring of 1993, and fell in love with the hobby with the first old coin I found. I've used different models of detectors over the years to find coins relics and jewelry. My detector of choice is the Garrett 2500, which does an outstanding job of finding the treasures I'm looking for.

In the parks and play grounds the 2500 with its target ID and treasure Imaging makes it easy to determine what your target is. This is great for coin and jewelry hunting. While hunting if I hear the Garrett bell tone I stop dead in my tracks because I know there's got to be something good under the coil. For relic hunting you can't beat the 2500 in the true all metal mode. The combo of the 12inch coil and the all metal mode will seek out those deep relics and targets again and again I've found some of my favorite relics with this detector!

This detector like all Garrett detectors is easy to use even for the beginner. The preset programs do a good job for most hunting spots but if you choose to change any setting on the detector you can do so with out a lot of time taken in the field. The display screen lets you easily choose your settings and get back to your hunting. I've had my 2500 for five years now and I have a ton of silver coins to show for it. With the oldest being a 1745 French ecu from the reign of Lewis the XV. When the bell tone went off on that coin and the ID read 50 cents I said yeah right. But when the dirt cleared and that big old coin came out you could have heard me yell from three counties away!

My favorite relic is my 1850-1865 militia belt panel which I found while coin hunting with two of my friends at a old fair grounds. We all put up money on a bet to see who could find the most coins for the day. Well after the day was done I had the most coins in my pocket and to seal the deal I had the old belt plate. Needless to say I not only took the money home but got a great relic to boot. I've had a lot of coworkers and friends ask me about metal detecting and the hobby. I always show them my finds and my detector. Now there is a few more Garrett 2500's out there now searching for lost treasure. I would recommend the Garrett 2500 to anyone looking for a good solid detector that can hunt coins, jewelry, or relics. This is a great detector, and easy to use. It has good preset programs and outstanding depth in the all metal mode. I give it five stars!

I am a 100 percent disabled Vietnam veteran trying to deal with the frequently incapacitating effects of post traumatic stress disorder in addition to other related conditions.

I was constantly in a state of depression and tended to isolate myself, not leaving my apartment for months at a time. My caregivers at the Veterans medical facilities tried many things to break me out of this unhealthy state I was in, but I guess I just could not take that first step.

About two years ago, while at the Lyons, NJ veterans hospital for a medical appointment, I happened to run into the recreational director whom I got to know pretty well during my inpatient stay. We talked for awhile and discussed my situation. He stressed that I needed to find something to do that I might enjoy to get me out of my apartment into a healthier environment and hopefully divert my thoughts away from my perceived hopelessness and become motivated to pursue activities I might enjoy while hopefully improve my quality of life.

He suggested a number of activities, some of which I had done many years ago. One of his suggestions was metal detecting/treasure hunting. When I got back home, I thought about it on and off for a few months and finally took the first step.

I went online and viewed a few sites, printed out some basic information. Over the next couple of months I would periodically look over the info wondering if I really wanted to do this. Well, on one of my better days, I called KellyCo. After some discussion and very much appreciated advice with a very patient representative, I bought my Garrett GTI 2500.

I use it every chance I get. I haven't found anything significant,but every time I go out, even if I don't find much, I still enjoy the feeling that I could at any time.

I wish I had been able to do this years ago as it has had a significant impact on my quality of life.I no longer isolate as much, it has motivated me to get out more and helps me focus more positively, subsequently avoid many negative intrusive thoughts.

I usually go out by myself, but surprisingly, I am even considering joining a club. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. It has made a positive change in my life and has uplifted me for which I am thankful.

I am a newbie to modern metal detectors, (I chose the Garrett GTI 2500) because of all the features. I love the I.D. Meter, and Discrimination aspects! I once owned an old radio shack $30.00 unit, and I dug up a lot of old pull tabs and junk. I found a few coins, but for the most part, I did a lot of digging for nothing.

I am just getting the hang of my new Garrett GTI 2500, and I love the idea of knowing what I am digging for before I start digging. So far I have found lots of coins, pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. And before every digging, I knew what the coin was and how deep I needed to dig. No more wasted effort, to find just pull tabs and trash.

I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but after I received my new metal detector from Kellyco, I unpacked it, popped in the DVD in my laptop computer and enjoyed learning about the entire feature! My first test was to spread some coins out on the floor, pennies, nickels, quarters, half dollars and silver dollars. As I passed the metal detector over each coin the treasure talk feature told me the depth and the screen indicated what each coin was. This was done over a hard wood floor. At first the detector was finding the nails in the floor, until I pushed on the Discrimination feature.


I was totally amassed at what this machine could do. After I picked up all the coins I ran it over the floor again, and thought the detector had a problem, because it told me there was a quarter, still down there. But the treasure talk told me the quarter was now 9 inches deep.

By the way my house has a crawl space, and after a few days of this reading, ( that I did not get except in this one space on the floor), I decided to crawl under the house with my detector, and what I found was a 1952 silver Quarter, laying 1" under the dirt.
By the way, my house was built in 1952.)

The very first day I was impressed with this Garrett 2500. Since then I have found lots of coins and long lost things right in my very own yard. We (I and my 5 year old) have also made a few trips to the local parks and play grounds and always found coins. My best find so far was a 1/2 cent peace...and a man’s gold band ring.

We are now planning a vacation around this new Detector. The only problem is going for the best chance of finding valuables.

We are now shopping for a "gold detector" at Kellyco.

What can I say? The GTI 2500 just does what it says it would. I have had several detectors I have bought from Kellyco though the years but the 2500 is the crown jewel.

I guess the best thing I can say is that "IT IS WORTH THE MONEY." I have recomended this piece of equipment to others as it is simple enough to operate for beginners but it can be programed to operate ar advanced levels. All metal is dead on target for deep items and can be switched back to disc. with a push of a button.

I also like when all metal is used you can still use the screen to get the size of the target. Battery life is good and the battery bars let you know when it is about to power down. The depth it has is super as I have found a excellsior shoe co. good luck charm at over 10 in using the disc mode. A nickle is the hardest coin to get a good reading of any detector but I think the 2500 is the best that I have ever used on nickles. The ability to size objects is the best feature of this piece of equipment as when it conducts the same as a quarter and you size it and it says coin size " Dig it" as it is a quarter.

Oh, I know all detectors can be fooled at times and a detector is only as good as the operator but this one gives you a leg up. When I got mine I took the book to work with me as when I had a few min. I would study it. I recommend that a new owner do that as it will help to not get discouraged. Just learn the proper way to use it and have fun!

This metal detector is very poorly designed no depth detection in any mode or setting, I recently had my unit serviced instead of repairing it they replaced it, and the only time you do that is when it is unrepairable, and the new unit they sent me back is a worse peice of junk than the first one, no depth detection or discrimination of iron or aluminum, lots of bells and whistles and no preformance, it misses lots of targets, and I did read the owners manual several times, and I know how to use a detector they are vey simple.My five year old Bounty Hunter works better than the GTI 2500! So if you think BH is a bad detector Garret is much worse,,, I should have purchased a Whites MXT..

When I started out at 12 years of age, it was with a cheap radio shack detector. At the time I was feeling out this hobby, unsure yet what to think. After a few successes with my brother, I was hooked line and sinker. Both, my brother and I, were big dreamers, dreaming of lost treasures of a lost age. I laugh now, because the tools we had were barely able to pick up a coin an inch under sod. My dad often told us that, "it would be of better use to look for vehicles that weren't buried too deep for it to read. Maybe then you could sell the scrap metal and make it worth your time." His words hit home. I needed something better to help with these dreams.

After finally getting enough money, I set off for the quest of the right detector. All the research I did, I mainly did on dependability in the field and user friendly function. I finally narrowed my choices to two detectors, the Minelab Explorer II and the Garrett GTI 2500. Both had amazing qualities and functions, and both had its own draw backs.

The GTI 2500 I rented and tested first. After turning on the machine, I realized how self explanatory it was and didn't bother with the instructions. After a few air tests, I took it to field. With it I had immediate success finding a silver quarter about 6 inches deep. Believe it or not, it was my first signal. After feeling it out for a weekend and getting to know the finer functions, I was impressed. I ran into a few problems in highly trashy area's, but that was overcome simply by "notching" out particular types of trash I ran into and adjusting sensitivity. This, along with the visual graphics, is what this detector is all about. If I stumbled upon a typical pull tab, I could notch it out and no longer have to deal with that type of pull tab. Depth and accuracy was also a plus. About 9 times out of 10 it was accurate to a fault, at least with coins. Jewelry was another matter. Though it has graphical indicators for jewelry, it is still possible to notch out certain types of jewelry. After all, pull tabs, nickels and some rings read the same with most detectors. By notching out a pull tab, you inadvertently notch out some jewelry. It's also worth noting it has factory set modes for coins and jewelry. You can also customize your own setting. This detector is compatible with a few different sized coils also.

In conclusion, I didn't need to look any further. It was affordable, easy to use, and had everything I needed in one machine. You can turn on and go right away, or you can read through the manual and get it all down in a day. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

I don't have as many hours a day to go metal detecting anymore and I definitely don't have time to dig up every target. After buying several detectors that had discrimination and other features I decided they either didn't go deep enough or they just weren't very accurate and I bought one more, a Garrett GTI 2500.

Although I didn't need a lot of the bells and whistles the GTI 2500 has I quickly learned to like them all. First of all it was easy to set up just the way I wanted it, although I could have just put batteries in it and turned it on and began searching. It talks if you want it to and tells you every time you changed a setting and how you have changed it.

The target imaging is a feature that all metal detectors should have. I used to dig up a lot of targets with other detectors that I thought were coins that turned out to be aluminum cans and other objects. But you don't have near as many false readings with the GTI's target imaging as it can tell you before you dig a target if it's a coin sized object or not. I found that in all-metal mode it is pretty sensitive and has a habit or detecting something every couple of seconds until I turned the sensitivity down lower than I had to turn it in the other modes.

I suspect the all-metal mode would work better if my search areas weren't so junked up. I'm sure there are better detectors than this one out there, but with the ease of operating this one and all the features it has I decided it's a fairly good detector. The only thing I'm disappointed about is it's depth or should I say the lack of it. It should have more depth for the cost.

The Garrett GTI 2500 unit is really lacking in depth and small size capability, it does have some interesting features, but with its inability to detect smaller and deeper targets it is a real disappointment to me , the way the adds are written you think you are getting a powerful deep seeking unit, in fact you are receiving a machine with less than stellar performance at a premium price, My Fisher Coin strike really outperforms the GTI 2500, it also produces a lot of false targets, hits on a lot of bad targets as good, treasure image does not work very well, all in all not a very good detector for the very high price performance ratio!!! I could not recommend this GTI 2500 to anyone looking for a good unit, you need to try before you buy.

Even though the adds for the Garrett GTI 2500 are really hyped up it is still a poor performer! My really old bounty hunter gets all the targets that my garret finds,and on really small targets the GTI 2500 with all of its wizardry misses them and my bounty hunter picks them up easily, the GTI does not seem to have enough out put power and if you use a smaller coil like there 5x10 Scorcher it looses even more detecting ability or the larger 10x14 Power DD coil I was really disappointed with its performance! This needs an upgrade in performance electronics, the one thing I really like about it is the voice announcing the depth and size of a target, If I had a chance to demo this 2500 before I purchased it the sale would not have happened, If you are thinking about buying one demo it first against some other metal detectors,like whites or fisher, and Minelab and see how they all compare, I am pretty sure the Garret will be at the bottom of the performance ladder.
